--- 《IS A WORRY WORRYING YOU?》

1.

Do you ever have a worry that won’t go away? What is a worry, anyway?
2.

A worry is a thought that stops you from having fun, from feeling good, from being happy.

3。

Don’t bother looking for a worry because you’ll never find it. It is invisible. But it seems very real.

4

Suppose, just suppose, one hundred elephants come to tea and you discover you don’t have any tea bags. Uh, ho. What will you do with a herd of thirsty elephants? Now, that’s a worry.

5.

But you can get rid of that worry by offering the elephants lemonade instead.
6.

You can fell tired from a worry. Or sad. Or sick. A worry can feel like a heavy sack is on your back. Only it isn’t there.

7.

Suppose a gorilla at the playground borrows your skateboard and doesn’t return it when he said he would. You give yourself a stomachache because you are sure that he will keep it forever.
Now, that’s a worry.
But you can get rid of that worry by going up that gorilla and asking for it back.
Or maybe you can make a deal.
You borrow his roller blades and the two of you can skater together.

8.

A worry can scare you out of your shoes.

9

Suppose a monster moves in under you bed, and you’re afraid if you go to sleep it will do something horrible, so you stay awake all night.
Now, that’s a worry!
But you can get rid of that worry by singing the monster lullabies until you both fall asleep.

10.

A worry can make a perfect day seem gloomy. Suppose you are all ready for the first day of school, but you find out that your new teacher is a bear. What will happen if you forget your homework? Now, that’s a worry.
11.

But you can get rid of that worry by thinking about how your teacher might feel in a new class. You give her a jar of honey to make her feel welcome.

12.

Anyone can have a worry. Parents. Teacher. Brothers. Sisters. Friends.
Suppose Camille Camel, who is your best friend, is getting ready for a fancy party and falls and scrapes her knees. She is worried that she won’t be able to go, so she comes to you for help but you don’t know what to do. Now, both of you have a worry.

13.

But you can get rid of both worries by putting bright pink bandages with yellow stars on her scraped knees. She smiles and goes off to the party while your worry disappears because you helped a friend.
14.

A worry isn’t polite. It has no manners.
15.
It doesn’t ask if it can enter. It just barges in. And it will stay as long as you let it.

16.
Suppose Uncle Herman is coming to visit, and you know he’ll want to see you but his voice is as loud as a roaring lion, and it makes you want to run away. Now, that’s a worry.
17.

But you can get rid of that worry by remembering that you always have a good time with Uncle Herman because he likes to play board games with you, and he doesn’t talk so much then. Get out you checkers. Here he comes.
18.

Most of the time, something you worry about never happens. Suppose you see a rhinoceros walking on the other side of the street. He is so big and strong. What if he were to cross over and hit you! That is a worry.

19.

But he is on his way to the store and never even looks at you.

20.

A worry is as big or as small as you let it be.
Suppose a bald eagle makes a nest in your tangled hair, and you think everyone will laugh at you because you have an eagle on your head. Or worse than that, it will think you are a newborn eaglet and fly away with you and you will never see your family again!
21.

Now, that’s certainly a worry!
But you can stop that worry as soon as it gets started by getting a haircut. The eagle will just have to find another tangle to build its nest.
22.
So, how can you get rid of a worry once it starts worrying you? You can…… Imagine it away. Put it in a suitcase and send it packing. Seal it in an envelope and mail it away.

23.

Stand it in the corner while you have fun. Hide it in a closet and close the door.
24.

Do something else. Take out your deck of cards and don’t let it play.
25.

Write a story. Play with a friend. Bake a cake.

26.

Face it. Look at it and see if it makes any sense. Tell it to go away. Discuss your worry with someone else. Work on the thing that is worrying you.

27.

Thinking another thought. Remember a good time that you had. Think about what you are doing and not about what might happen. Replace a worry with a happy thought. Let’s a worry thought remind you to smile.

28.

A worry knows something you should know: You can get rid of a worry any time you want. It just takes a little patience. Don’t worry. You can do it!

真是本好书,特别适合这两天的我{:titter:}

Face it. Look at it and see if it makes any sense. Tell it to go away. Discuss your worry with someone else. Work on the thing that is worrying you.

前几天外企员工英语培训,我就用了这本书,让他们关于“忧虑”展开讨论,有点儿意思。{:titter:}

感觉4-5岁的孩子可以看了, 我女儿理解上应该是没有问题, 就是不知道会不会害怕这个小怪兽.{:c7:}

OUT OF SHOES 是个习惯用语?
ctpld 发表于 2009-12-3 16:28

嗯,算是吧,因为从字面上很容易理解,所以基本上不需要单独提出来。国外的广告啊,宣传页上什么的,经常出现这个说法。{:titter:}

工作室有书房,原则上为内部学员提供便利,他们可以在这里买书。后来很多深圳的妈妈要求,所以现在我们每周开放4,5个小时给非学员。{:lol:}

我喜欢看书,各种各样风格的书。很多稀奇古怪风格的我也一样喜欢。其他的东西也是一样,蒂姆伯顿的作品我就很欣赏,我很多朋友觉得我这人真“怪异”。{:titter:}

-------------------------------------------
比如说,一百只大象来你家喝茶,但是突然你发现,茶包没有了!哎呀,这下子,一群口渴的大象怎么处理呀,这可真让人焦虑呀!{:titter:}

Five little monkeys jumping on the bed

Five little monkeys jumped on the bed.

One fell off and bumped his head.

The mama called the doctor.

The doctor said: No more monkeys jumping on the bed.

So four little monkeys jumped on the bed.

Three  two one.

Five little monkeys jumped on the bed.

One fell off and bumped his head.

The mama called the doctor.

The doctor said: No more monkeys jumping on the bed.

So four little monkeys jumped on the bed.

He fell off and bumped his head.

We are going on a bear hunt!

We're not going on a bear hunt again.

英文绘本--我们去猎熊 we are going on a bear hunt !

我们再冲上楼、进房间、上床、躲进被窝,终于舒了口气:we are not going on a bear hunt  again !

The Wind in the Willows

The Wind in the Willows这样美好的书籍上,让这美好留在孩子的心里。

goole it and found wikipedia webpage:

The Wind in the Willows is a classic of children's literature by Kenneth Grahame, first published in 1908. Alternately slow moving and fast paced, it focuses on four anthropomorphised animal characters in a pastoral version of England. The novel is notable for its mixture of mysticism, adventure, morality, and camaraderie.

The Wind in the Willows was in its thirty-first printing when then-famous playwright, A. A. Milne, who loved it, adapted a part of it for stage as Toad of Toad Hall in 1929.

In 1908 Grahame retired from his position as secretary of the Bank of England. He moved to the country, where he spent his time by the River Thames doing much as the animal characters in his book do; namely, as one of the most famous phrases from the book says, "simply messing about in boats".

google book:

我们娘俩说Wind in the Willows习惯了,结果写的时候就把那个The丢掉了。

我更喜欢google picture里面搜出来的图画,这样的名作,可能不少插画家给它画过插画。{:2_39:}

“Willows”

Mole found a baby bird . It had fallen out of its nest.

“Look ! ” he said to his mother .

“It’s very , very hard to take care of a baby bird,”she said.

“My bird won’t die,”said Mole.

His friends helped him find food for the baby .

Mole fed it whenever it chirped .
And the bird didn’t die ! It grew.

“It’s my pet bird,”said Mole.” “It’s not a pet bird. It’s a wild bird,”said his mother. The bird fluttered its wings.

“Your bird is trying to fly,”said his mother .
“No!”cried Mole. “It mustn’e fly!”

Mole found some wood and some nails.

He borrowed his dad’s toolbox.

“What are you making?”said his dad.
“I making a cage for my pet bird!”said Mole.

He put his bird into its new cage .
The bird was sad.

Mole’s mother was sad ,too.
But Mole kept his bird , because he loved it.

Then – Grandad came to visit .
He looked at Mole’s pet bird.

Presently Grandad said, “Let’s go for a walk , little Mole.”

Grandad took Mole to the top of a hight hill.

Mole looked down at the trees far below.

He felt the wild wind trying to lift him.

“Wheee! I’m flying!” cried Mole.
“Nearly,”said Grandad.

When Mole got home he looked at his bird.
It was sitting very still in its cage in Mole’s dark underground room.

“Birds are meant to fly,”said Mole.
He opened the cage door ,and he let his bird fly away because he loved it .
Then he cried.

The next day Mole went into the forest .
He saw his bird flying, soaring, free.
And Mole was glad.

:lol

:lol

------------------------------------------------------------

:lol

勇敢与温柔从不对立,偶像解释得真好{:2_33:}

Where is my teddy?

;P ;P  身边走过一个sales,丢我一句:“It's so funny, isn't it?" That's ture. That's really funny!" :lol

Eddy's off to find his teddy.
Eddy's teddy's name is Freddy.

2.
He lost him in the wood somewhere.
It's dark and horrible in there.

"Help!"said Eddy. "I'm scared already! I want my bed! I want my teddy!"

3.
He tip-toed on and on until...

something made him stop quite still.

Look out!he thought. There's something there!

What's that?

4.
A GIANT TEDDY BEAR!

"Is it Freddy?" said Eddy.

"What a surprise! How did you ge to be this size?"

5.

"You're too big to huddle and cuddle," he said,

"and I'll never fit both of us into my bed."

6.
Then out of the darkness, clearer and clearer, the sound of a sobbing came nearer and nearer.

Soon the whole wood could hear the voice bawl,"How did you get to be tiddly and small? You're too small to huddle and cuddle,"it said, "and you'll only get lost in my giant-sized bed!"

7.

It was a gigantic bear and a tiddly teddy stomping towards...

8.
the giant teddy and Eddy

9.

"MY TED!"
gasped the bear.

"A BEAR!"
screamed Eddy.

10.
"A BOY!"
yelled the bear.

"MY TEDDY!"
cried Eddy.

11.

Then they ran and they ran through the dark wood back to their homes as quick as they could...

12.
all the way back to their snuggly beds, where they huddled and cuddled their own little teds.

当我很小的时候,我总是想象我手里的毛绒熊是真的,和我一起玩捉迷藏,对熊我有一种发自内心的喜爱。数数我和熊的缘分:我的第一个网名就叫小熊,最喜欢的卡通人物是维尼熊,最喜欢的动物是树熊,5岁的愿望——长大了去澳洲养树熊。{:titter:}{:titter:}

Hugs and Kisses

触摸书很适合2岁以前的孩子,因为这种书图画简单、语言简单、还能动手摸,一般会建议低龄孩子的父母多买这种书。当然,大孩子也一样喜欢的。{:smile:}

没有孩子不喜欢原版绘本的,关键还是看家长提供什么书。{{:2_34:}}

http://www.amazon.com/Baby-3-Chi ... 1682&pf_rd_i=283155

http://www.children2008.com/bookgroup.do

Eric Carle

Pollux Discount Books
Room 2101 Horizon Plaza
2 Lee Wing Street
Ap Lei Chau, Hong Kong Island
Tel: 2873-6962

www.pageonegroup.com

We are going on a bear hunt!》这样风格的,暂时不要动物拟人化的。

---------------------------------------

PS:秋水,按照华德福的要求,we are going on a bear hunt也不符合要求的。:c4:

立青:你推荐的那个就是我说的《study of the man》,哪里能买到呢?

Good night moon

人的想象力和其他功能一样,不用就会衰退,这是我的感受。{:2_34:}

Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes这首歌,里边的and就不能整体发出来。

小巫说得太好了!{:2_30:}

Mama, I'll Give You the World

1。
When Papa was around, Mama loved to dance, but Mama doesn't dance anymore. She works hard every day at Walter's World of Beauty, cutting, coloring, and curling.
2。
While Mama, like a magician, turns Mrs. Koo's dark hair the color of sunset, Walter, Gorges, and Rupa cut and comb.
Luisa does a match problem. Then she writes a story for English about a girl with a magic brush that burshes people's cares away.

3。

After school each afternoon, Liusa's bus drops her at the door to the World. Everyone greets her--Walter, Rupa, Georges, but especially Mama.
Mama smiles and makes a place for Liusa--on a cushion, under the palm tree. "First things first," Mama always says, so there by Walter's Bottles of Beauty, with names that whisper promises--Raspberry Radiance, Evevning Glamour Glow, Sundy Night Soother--Luisa does her schoolwork.

4。
When she finishes her homework, Luise takes out her scissors, her glue, and her paper and does what Mama does--cuts and colors and curls--portraits of the customers. "Everyone in the world is a flower," her mother always tells her. "Together, they make a bouquet." So Luisa cuts slowly, noticing how different each flower is, and how each on comes in a special size and shape.

5。
In between customers, Mama rests in her chair and lets Luisa brush her long, thick curls. Luisa brushes hard, pretending she is the girl in her story, carefully watching her mother's face to see if she can make her smilel. Mama hardly ever smiles, but when she does, she is the prettiest flower in the World.

6。
Luisa loves to look at the pictures at her mother's station. One is of Luisa; the other is of Mama long ago--happy and dancing--in a large roomthat looks like a palace, crowded with people and full of lights. Mama says the name of the palace is Roseland, but Luisa doesn't believe her. She thinks her mother has made up the name because she loves flowers.

"Can we go there?"
Luisa asks. She imagines the two of them holding hands and dancing at the palace Mama calls Roseland...
But Mama shakes her head, no. She holds the picture in her hands, and her eyes look at something far away and once upon a time--something Luisa can only guess at.

7。
Under the dryers, the ladies loudly whisper their secrets, but Luisa has a secret of her own. Tomorrow is Mama's birthday, and tonight Luisa is going to give her the present she's been planning for such a long time .
For the past few weeks, whenever Mama isn't looking, Luisa has whispered her secret in the ear of each of Mama's favorite customers--

8。
--When she sweeps up snippers of hair for handsome Mrl. Anselmo, who always tells Mama, "Just a little off here and a little off there, please leave it as long as you dare, for you see, don't you know? You can see it is so, that I haven't a lot left to spare."
---When she helps Mrs. Malloy, bent over and sad as she inches into the World on her walker, but smiling and standing nearly straight an hour later, when, feeling beautiful again, she leaves.
---when she helps Mama brush and braid Hazel Mae Dixon's go-everywhere hair till it looks like neat, shiny rows of licorice.
---when she sprays fussy Mrs. Fogelman's hair that refuses to stand up and obey until Mama teases it with a comb so it can't help standing up --fluffy and high as a great, gray cloud, just the way Mrs. Fogelman likes it !
----and when she removes the giant pink and purple rollers that turn Mrs. Rodriguez's dark tangles into an ocean of gentle waves.

9。
At six o'clock it's time at last to go home. Luisa exchanges secret winks with Walter, Georges, and Rupa. Then she and Mama hang up their smocks and empty their pockets, heavy with tip money.
It  all goes into a special envelope. "First things first," Mama says. She is saving for Luisa--for college. Mama wants Luisa to learn everything.

10。
Outside, the world stretches before them--dark, mysterious, and twinkling with store' and street' and starlight. Luisa and Mama stand together looking at it, feeling oh, so small. Mama's hair sparkles in the light. So do her eyes.
"The world is big. So much more for you to know. So much more for you to see. One day, if I can," Mama says, patting the envelope deep in her coat pocket, "I will give the world to you."
No, thinks Luisa. Tonight, if I can, I will give the world to you...for your birthday!

11。
At home that evening Luisa asks Mama to try on her prettiest dress--the one with the roses and violets and vines that encircle Mama's waist the way Luisa's arms do when they hug. "Please, Mama?"Luisa begs.
"Not now," Mama says. "I'm tired."
"Pretty please?"Luisa asks, opening her eyes asa wide as Walter's windows and looking at Mama in a way she knows Mama can't refuse.

"All right," Mama says, and puts on her dress. While she does, Luise pretend to be searching for something. "Mama!" she calls out. "We have to go back to the World! I forgot my book." Luisa hurries and hands Mama her coat.

Mama pushes the coat away. "No," she says. "It can wait until tomorrow."
Luisa is worried. "But Mama," she pleads. "It's for my book report. Don't you always tell me 'first things first'?" Mama sighs and puts on her coat. Luisa tries not to smile.

12。
When they get to the World, it is dark.
Luisa holds her breath as Mama takes out her keys and opens the door.

13。
The moment Mama turns on the light, music fills the World. Surprise!
Luisa's portraits dance along the walls and mirrors. Walter, Rupa, and Georges have filled the room with roeses and have hung tiny lights that wink like eyes. All of Mama's favorite customers are there, dressed up, but Mama, smiling, is the prettiest of all.

"Happy birthday!" everyone yells. Then, "Speech!"
Mama blushes. "First things first," she says, and gathers Luisa into her arms. "For your birthday," Luisa says, "I wanted to turn the World into Roseland." "You did, Lulu-belle," Mama says, "Thank you...Thank you all."

14。
"Mama," Luisa asks as the music swells from Walter's boom box, "will you dance with me?"
Mama doesn't move and she doesn't anser. She looks at Walter, Rupa, and Georges smiling at her. She looks at Mrs. Mally's tow old feet tapping beside her walker, like tow new feet. She looks at Mrs. Fogelman's great, gray cloud of hair turned golden by the lights and changed into a clear-weather cloud. She looks at Mr. Anselmo and Hazel Mae Dixon and Mrs. Rodriguez and Mrs. Koo all dressed in their finest clothes to honor her. Then she looks deep into Luisa's eyes, and Luisa sees that Mama's eyes are no longer far away. They are near and clear and wet with tears. "Shall we dance?" Mama asks Luisa.

15。
And Mama and Luisa dance! They twirl and whirl and laugh together. Soom everyone is dancing , and the World seems to sparkle and spin faster and faster around them.
Then Mr. Anselmo, with a bow so deep that his bald spot shows (and he doesn't even care!), asks Mama and Luisa to dance with him....and they do!

16。
And the way Mr. Anselmo smiles at Mama and the way she smiles back at him make Luisa think there si no more beautiful place in the world than this world---
the world they are dancing in now.

17。

If you give a mouse a cookie,he's going to ask for a glass of milk.
When you give him the milk,he'll probably ask you for a straw.
When he's finished,he'll ask for a napkin.
Then he'll want to look in the mirror to make sure he doesn't have a milk mustache.
When he looks into the mirror,he might notice his hair needs a trim.
So he'll probably ask for a pair of nail scissors.
When he's finished giving himself a trim,he'll want a broom to sweep up.
He'll start sweeping.
He might get carried away and sweep every room in the house.
He may even end up washing the floors as well.
When he's done,he'll probably want to take a nap.
You'll have to fix up a little box for him with a blanket and a pillow.
He'll crawl in,make himself comfortable, and fluff the pillow a few times.
He'll probably ask you to read him a story.
When you read to him from one of your picture books,he'll ask to see the pictures.
When he looks at the pictures,he'll get so excited that he'll want to draw one of his own. He'll ask for paper and crayons.
He'll draw a picture. When the picture is finished,he'll want to sign his name, with a pen.
Then he'll want to hang his picture on your refrigerator.Which means he'll need Scotch tape.
He'll hang up his drawing and stand back to look at it.Looking at the refigerator will remind him that he's thirsty.
So...he'll ask for a glass of milk.
And chances are that if he asks for a glass of milk,he's going to want a cookie to go with it。
